The Revenant is a 2015 American film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The screenplay by Mark L. Smith and Iñárritu is based in part on Michael Punke's 2002 novel of the same name, which was inspired by the life of frontiersman Hugh Glass. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson. It is the second onscreen collaboration of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy after Inception.

Plot:
"- In an 1823 expedition of the uncharted American wilderness (now known as the Bridger Mountain Range, in Montana), explorer and fur trapper Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is mauled by a bear and left for dead in a shallow grave by members of his hunting team. The film follows Glass' navigation of a vicious winter to survive and seek vengeance on those who left him to die and murdered his young half-Native-American son. A revenant is a being that returns from the dead."
