Film je snimljen prema romanu Jeana Shepherda "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash". Mnogi ga smatraju jednim od najboljih božićnih filmova, pa čak stavljaju uz bok "Divnom životu". Osvojio je nagradu Genie za scenarij i režiju.

SADRŽAJ:
"- Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself.
Četrdesetih godina u jednom malom mjestu odrasta Ralphie Parker (P. Billingsley). Živi s mamom (M. Dillon), tatom (D. McGavin) i mlađim bratom Randyjem (I. Petrella). Najbolji prijatelji su mu Flick (S. Schwartz) i Schwartz (R. D. Robb), a najveći problem dječak nasilnik Scut Farkus (Z. Ward), koji njega i njegove prijatelje dočekuje na putu do škole i često tuče. Njegov brat Randy nikad ne želi jesti, majka zbog toga nikad ne uspijeva pojesti jelo dok je još toplo, a otac je opsjednut ružnom lampom u obliku ženske noge koju je dobio za nagradu. Ralphie od Djeda Mraza želi samo pušku karabinku s dometom od 200 metara, model BB, s kompasom, ali njegova majka ne misli da je to baš dobar dar. Slično misli i učiteljica (T. Moore), koja je Ralphieju dala nisku ocjenu za sastavak na temu "Što želim za Božić". Čak i Djed Mraz kaže: "Malac, izbit ćeš si oko!". Ralphie je očajan, jer ako svi misle da ne treba dobiti pušku, neće je ni dobiti, a drugi dar ne želi. No ima netko tko ipak misli drugačije. U međuvremenu, Flicku će se zalijepiti jezik za ledeni stup, Ralphie će pred ocem opsovati i, što je najgore, u trenutku bijesa, očaja i straha izmlatit će Scuta do krvi..."
O FILMU:
- This is essentially a story about childhood and is very spot-on in regards to the yearning of children and the whole Christmas era - I've been watching it since I was a child and every Christmas when it comes on TV I watch it again. It's funny, poignant and totally memorable - it has some of the best scenes of all-time and although I know a few people who dislike it because it's a bit "weird" and "dark," most people I know love it.
Worth watching every Christmas, forever!
- "A Christmas Story" is a rare film about children yet for adults. While kids will definitely enjoy this Christmas-themed saga, adults will find a deeper level of depth than they may remember from seeing the film at a younger age.
