O filmu:
American History X is a 1998 American drama film directed by Tony Kaye and starring Edward Norton, Edward Furlong, Beverly D'Angelo and Avery Brooks. It was distributed by New Line Cinema. The film tells the story of two brothers, Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton) and Daniel "Danny" Vinyard (Edward Furlong) of Venice Beach in Los Angeles, California. Both are intelligent and charismatic students. Their father, a firefighter, is murdered by a black drug dealer while trying to extinguish a fire in a South Central neighborhood of Los Angeles, and Derek is drawn into the neo-Nazi movement. Derek brutally kills two black gang members whom he catches in the act of breaking into the truck left to him by his father, and is sentenced to three years in prison for voluntary manslaughter. The story shows how Danny is influenced by his older brother's actions and ideology and how Derek, now radically changed by his experience in incarceration, tries to prevent his brother from going down the same path as he did. The film is told in the style of nonlinear narrative. David McKenna scripted the film and shooting took place in Los Angeles, California. The film was released in the United States on October 30, 1998 and went on to gross over $23 million at the international box office. It was given an 'R' rating by the MPAA for 'graphic brutal violence including rape, pervasive language, strong sexuality and nudity'. Critics mostly praised the film and Edward Norton was given an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. It was also named by Empire magazine as the 311th Greatest Movie of All Time in September 2008.

Plot:
Derek Vinyard returns from prison to find his younger brother, Danny, caught in the same web of racism and hatred that landed him in prison. After Derek's father is killed in the line of duty by a minority, Derek's view of mankind is altered, but while in prison, he discovers that there is good and bad in every race. The task before him now is to convince Danny of his newfound enlightenment.

hehe, nekidan isao s frendom na kavu, otvorila se knjižara u gradu i bilo dvd-a po 10kn. Kopam, kopam i naletim na taj

najbolja uloga edwarda nortona. Moć.

Da znaš da si ovo dobro rekao.
To je i glavni razlog zbog koga je ovaj film pet stepenika iznad drugih u tematici.
Nema potrebe raspravljati. Samo ga odgledati i posle toga sesti, ućutati i razmisliti o svojim mržnjama i predrasudama.

Moćan film, iako mi je sa sličnom tematikom bolji Do The Right Thing Spikea Leea, i dalje mislim da je ovo jedan odličan film sa zasigurno najboljom ulogom Edwarda Nortona.

Fin film. Mogao bi se ponovno pogledat.

Prije nego što sam ga pogledao mi je jedan idiot spoilao cijeli film.
Tako da mi je žao što nikad neću okusiti pravo iskustvo gledanja kada ne znaš ništa o dotičnom djelu.
Kako god, i usprkos tomu mi je bio prenajbolji.
Zadnji citat ću pamtit cijeli svoj život.

Hm... S ovime se ne bi baš složio. Ta poznata rečenica "život je prekratak"

Ovo je sad mali offtopic, ali kada sam pogledao Magnoliu i ne sjećam se sad točno scene, ali znam da je neki lik ležao na samrti i govorio sinu da život nije kratak, život je dugačak. Tako nešto, i to me natjeralo na razmišljanje i to je apsolutno točno. Mogu pojasnit zašto tako mislim ako netko želi.

Inače, odličan film

život je prekratak da bi ga trošio na gluposti što je istina...samo neki kasno shvate, neki nikada i ode sve u kurac

i mogli bi o tome do sutra kad bi svako svoju teoriju dao jer život može biti dugačak kad ga ideš rastavljat na atome i pogledaš kolko mogućnosti ti je dano, ali isto tako s jedne točke gledišta je i užasno kratak i ne mislim tu na vremenski period

Film je prva liga, Northon je bio maximalno nabrijan.
U to vrijeme su se još očekivale i velike stvari od Furlonga.
