O filmu:
The Color of Money is a 1984 novel by American writer Walter Tevis, and a 1986 film semi-adaptation by the same title. The film continues the story of pool hustler and stakehorse Edward "Fast Eddie" Felson from Tevis' first novel, The Hustler (1959), with Paul Newman reprising his role from its film adaptation (1961). The sequel novel and film share as their premise the continuation of Felson's story at a point more than 20 years after the events depicted in The Hustler, and with Eddie not having been active on the pool circuit during that time. But aside from this and the title, they have little in common. Although Tevis did author a screenplay for The Color of Money that was based on his novel, the filmmakers ultimately decided not to use Tevis's story at all, and instead crafted an entirely different one for the movie, one with a large number of plot-point similarities to the earlier 1980 pool comedy, The Baltimore Bullet. The title is a reference to the traditional green cloth (or baize) of a pool table being reminiscent of American currency notes.

Plot:
Pool hustler Fast Eddie Felson finds the young, promising pool player Vincent in a local bar and he sees in him a younger version of himself. To try and make it as in the old days, Eddie offers to teach Vincent how to be a hustler. After some hesitations Vincent accepts and Eddie takes him and Vincent's girlfriend Carmen on a tour through the country to work the pool halls. However, Vincent's tendency to show off his talent and by doing so warning off the players and losing money, soon leads to a confrontation with Eddie.

The Color of Money (1986) - Scorsese, Newman i Cruise. The Hustlera nisam gledao, a to je kao prvi dio gdje je Newman mlad (60-e) i smatra se klasikom i odličnim filmom. Ovaj nije odličan, ali je dovar i radi se o biljaru ili koji je već ne-sport u pitanju. Newman kao stara iskusnjara uči mladog Cruisea koji ima ogroman talent, ali ubrzo postanu rivali. Dobar film i odličan Newman. On mi je baš drag glumac. Može biti odličan i zabavan, a može biti odličan i ozbiljan. I ovo mu je jedini Oscar.

ja sam isto prvi put gledao color of money bez da sam gledao hustlera i bio mi je bezveze. kasnije sam pogledao opet puno godina kasnije sa pogledanim hustlerom i tek onda je dobio na težini jer mi ovaj film ima smisla tek kada ga shvatim kao nastavak hustlera i spoznaju što se dogodilo s tim newmanovim likom. malo je onda čak i tužna priča iz color of money jer neke scene su direktne reference na prethodnika.

Onda ću pogledati čim prije Hustlera.
