John Carpenter's Starman is a 1984 science fiction-fantasy film directed by John Carpenter that tells the story of an alien (Jeff Bridges) who has come to Earth in response to the invitation found on the gold phonograph record installed on one of the Voyager space probes. The screenplay was written by Bruce A. Evans, Raynold Gideon, and Dean Riesner (who was uncredited). Bridges was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role. The film inspired a short-lived, 1986 television series of the same name which starred Robert Hays and Christopher Daniel Barnes.

Plot:
Having accepted an invitation to visit Earth (sent in the one of the Voyager space probes in the 1970s) an alien receives a rude reception when his ship is fired upon and disabled. He has only three days to get to the giant crater near Winslow, AZ where he will be rescued or else he will die. Taking human form, he seeks the assistance of the recently widowed Jenny Hayden. Initially terrified, she comes to care for the alien visitor. All the while, government agents seek to track them down.

a smiješno je kad vidim ko ga je režirao. Carpenter je prije ovoga napravio The Thing i svi znamo da je on propao kod kritike i svi su ga tada mrzili pa je Carpenter iz inata napravio ovaj film, da svima pokaže da se može snaći i u ostalim žanrovima i bome im je pokazao jer se radi o izrazito simpatičnom i pametno osmišljenom filmu. Jeff Bridges je odlično odglumio dok je Karen Allen uvijek rado viđena jer mi je jedna od najsimpatičnijih glumica s kraja 70-ih i kroz 80-e. Stvarno je tada snimila jako puno kvalitetnih i zabavnih filmova. Dakle, radnja je o tome da taj alien dolazi na Zemlju i počne učiti stvari od Jenny (Karen Allen) sve što uči malo dijete kad ga majka odgaja. Ovo može i pod road film jer ima dosta lovljenja od vlasti. Hvala, Johne. Još si jednom pokazao zašto si mi najdraži redatelj.
