Vjerovali ili ne, istina je – Roger Corman ovogodišnji je gost festivala Grossmann u Ljutomeru!

Naši dobri stari prijatelji, a od ove godine i punokrvni partneri s festivala filma & vina Grossman, u Ljutomer dovode jednu od najvećih ikona filmske povijesti, redatelja, producenta, scenarista i kralja B-filma Rogera Cormana!

Prošle godine, glavni gost festivala bio je Lloyd Kaufman, a ove godine ide se korak dalje, s dovođenjem čovjeka koji stoji iza filmova poput 'Death Race 2000', 'Piranha', 'The Little Shop Of Horrors'..., kao i karijera nekih od najvećih imena u povijesti američkog filma: Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Jack Nicholson, James Cameron, Jonathan Demme i Ron Howard počinjali su i učili kod Cormana!

Organizirat će se i radionice s Cormanom i svakakva čudesa, o čemu ćemo još iscrpno i na vrijeme pisati na ovim stranicama. U svakom slučaju, počnite planirati svoj put u Sloveniju od 9. do 16. kolovoza, kada se održava Grossmann!

Another distinguished guest comfirming his arrival is Brian Yuzna, director and producer, worshipped by generations of horror fans (seriously, who hasn't seen Re-Animator trilogy, Necronomicon or deliciously bizarre Return of the Living Dead 3?), the greatest Slovenian horror director of all times! That's right, during our meeting in Cannes we used some special interrogation techniques on Brian (as seen on photo), so he confessed that he's (at least partially) indeed our fellow countryman. We also convinced him to give us 35mm copies of Re-Animator and Society, both of which will naturally be shown at Grossmann 2008, introduced by Yuzna himself, live and in colour!
Brian, who started his fruitful career in 80s, is also well-known for sharing his immense international movie-making experience (he worked in USA, Europe – mostly in Spain, for some time now also in Asia) with film enthusiasts, so feel free to ask him for advice or just about new, fourth Re-Animator sequel House Of Re-Animator, that he's making together with his old co-worker, Stuart Gordon

This year, from August 9 to 16, fourth installment of GROSSMANN FILM AND WINE FESTIVAL will take place in Ljutomer and Murska Sobota, Slovenia, EU. Main guest of film program and this year's winner of Old Vicious Cat award for lifetime achievements is the undisputed B-Movie king and father of contemporary Hollywood Roger Corman, whose selected retrospective will be shown. Another special guest is cult horror author Brian Yuzna, who will come to look for his Slovenian roots and present festival with 35mm copies of his most famous movies. Main guest of wine program is former world champion in chess, legendary Anatoly Karpov, who will play a simultaneous game of chess with interested chess players. In addition to that, a special episode of Croatian hit TV series Nočna mora Željka Malnara will be shot during festival, when Republic of Pescenica will open its first embassy in Republic of Prlekija...

Grossmann festival is dedicated to independent genre film production, meaning mostly horror, Sci-Fi, fantasy and other fierce and provocative cinematic products, which will compete for festival awards: Vicious Cat for best feature, Slak's Vicious Cat for best short film, and Noisy Cat for best music documentary. Film events will be accompanied by rich wine program, where most excellent of wine producers from Prlekija region and other parts of Slovenia will compete for prestigious Vicious Cat Wine Champion award. There will also be a competitive film workshop called The Little Workshop of Horrors, as well as daily live musical acts and free camping. Also most of screenings and other events will be free.
