Without Warning (1980)

Image

Redatelj: Greydon Clark
IMDB ocjena - 3.9 / 10 (654 glasova)
IMDB stranica

SADRŽAJ:
"- The 'stalk' and the 'kill' are familiar to anyone who has ever hunted for sport. IMAGINE, HOWEVER, IF THE HUNTED ARE HUMAN, THE HUNTERS ARE ALIENS FROM ANOTHER GALAXY AND THE HUNTING GROUND IS EARTH ... IMAGINE THAT DEADLY GAME!
Into this life and death struggle comes JACK PALANCE as Taylor - the first to sense a terrifying danger and the first to encounter the 'alien'. Sarge (MARTIN LANDAU) is a Vietnam veteran with an instinct for survival - an instinct that perceives the 'alien' threat to be invincible."

O Filmu:
- If the campy, silly plot isn't enough to get you tuned in, keep in mind it costars Jack Palance as a grizzled gas station owner, Cameron Mitchell as a sadistic hunter and an out-of-control Martin Landau as a ranting, raving, insane Vietnam vet! David (NYPD BLUE) Caruso also puts in an early appearance and the alien is played by giant Kevin Peter Hall, who went on the play the monster in the PREDATOR films.

- WITHOUT WARNING has been called a lost treasure by Fangoria magazine and they are correct
This modest little film is enjoyable, on so many fronts. Utilising the slasher formula - camping, sexual behaviour, point-of-view of the unseen killer, final girl, crazy support characters - in a fresh way, director Greydon Clark's come up with a winner here. The killer frisbees are appropriately nasty, oozing pus when cut, sucking and throbbing on their victims when attacking. We don't see the main alien until the last section of the film

- WITHOUT WARNING is one of the many hundreds of low-budget horror movies released in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s that seems to have faded away into obscurity. In fact, aside from the acting, which is at times criminal, and the lack of any gore to speak of, it’s actually a pretty well made backwoods slasher film, with a fresh angle. Yes it’s silly and yes it’s cheap, but its also lively, imaginative in places and contains a couple decent scares. Lets face it, if bug-eyed outer space goths with a taste for backwoods hillbillies doesn’t get you running for the local video store, you’re probably looking at the wrong site.

O Filmu:

The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972)

Image

Foršpan filma...
IMDB ocjena - 3.1 / 10 (851 glasova)
Moja IMDB ocjena - 3 / 10
IMDB stranica

SADRŽAJ:
"- The film sets out to detail the existence of the Fouke Monster, a bigfoot-like creature that has reportedly been seen by locals for several decades. It is described as having a foul odor, standing in excess of eight feet, and "weighing 300 pounds" (most people are poor estimators of weight; at the indicated stance and build, 300 kilograms were more likely). The creature is completely covered in reddish-brown hair and has three toes, as indicated by tracks found in a beanfield.

Several locals from the small town of Fouke, Arkansas recall their stories, often appearing as themselves, claiming that the creature has killed 100-pound hogs, as well as other animals, and eaten them. In one scene, a kitten is shown as having been "scared to death" by the creature. In another scene, hunters attempt to pursue the creature with dogs, but the dogs refuse to give chase. The narrator informs us that while people have shot at the creature in the past, it has always managed to escape. A police constable states that while driving home one night, the creature suddenly ran across the road in front of him. The creature is later shown attacking a family in a house, and after firing upon it, the creature sends one family member to the hospital. In the end, the narrator debates whether the creature is dead, or still out there ... watching him."

O filmu:
- First things first- The Legend of Boggy Creek is in a class of its own, literally. This film is part Documentary, part Drama, part Musical(!) and 100% classic horror/speculation/fantasy, not to mention historical document (if you believe that Bigfoot's for real).
"Boggy Creek" was a runaway low-budget smash hit in the mid 70's. Sequels tried to cash in on its success, but to no avail. Like the Blair Witch much later once the public had had its initial scare the magic was gone. I personally viewed the film at the theater during it's first release, and the kids packing the cinema ate it up, and yucked it up too, as perhaps the greatest genius of this film is that it is not only loaded with scares and suspense, and the famous monster of course, but also is loaded with (sometimes inadvertent) humor, as well as a musical score which lulls you into a sense that you are watching a harmless and serene Disney wildernesss travelogue, that's it! That's what it is. It's like "Charly the Lonesome Cougar" with a blood thirsty monster!

This film is one of the most remembered movies from the 70's because it was so unique and effective. It is funny, and it is pleasant to watch. It is hilariously cheap, but only with the DVD freeze-frame can you really tell that the Bigfoot is actually a guy in an gorilla costume (seriously). And since the people in the cast are purported to be the actual folks who this actually happened to, you can't fault their terrible acting either, but you sure can have a good laugh at their expense.

- One of my brothers took a girl he really liked to see "The Legend of Boggy Creek" on their first date in 1972. She never went out with him again. Word to the wise

- jedan od 'legendarnih' filmova iz 70-tih kojem većina zna ime ali ih ga je samo nekolicna gledala (ne znam sigurno ali mogao bi jedan od njih biti baš HorrorHR :?: )
