God does not want you to see a live-action Preacher adaptation. Not in theaters. Not on television. We're almost convinced of this now.

Vertigo's surly comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon - about a preacher, after being possessed by a powerful force (the offspring of an angel and a demon), who sets off to find God - has traded many hands in its own long journey to the screen. Then, around the time Ghost Rider was coming out, it was announced director Mark Steven Johnson was turning Preacher into an HBO series. Perfect, right?

Wrong. HBO's new top dog didn't jive with the idea, it seems. Taking issue with the series' dark themes, he canned the project. "It was a very faithful adaptation of the first few books, nearly word for word," Johnson tells Comics Continuum. "They offered me the chance to redevelop it but I refused. I've learned my lesson on that front and I won't do it again. So I'm afraid it's dead at HBO."

Johnson adds that he's heard rumblings someone else is eyeing to snatch up the rights to Preacher for big screen potential.

HBO is responsible for Six Feet Under (rather grim stuff) and begins airing the vampire series True Blood beginning next month. The latter, however, was greenlit under the old HBO head.

Columbia Pictures has picked up the rights to Preacher, the popular 1990s Vertigo series, for an adaptation to be directed by Sam Mendes.

Čim krene nešto oko filma otvaramo topic za njega, da ne bude kao ova fora sa HBO serijom Preacher...

evo, baš je i na popisu na imbd - u, režiser bi mogao biti Mark Steven Johnson što je vrlo, vrlo, vrlo, beskonačno vrlo loš izbor s obzirom na par ne baš najboljih ekranizacija superjunaka Ghostrider i Daredevil...

Ghost Rider je razočara, ali Daredevil je jako dobra ekranizacija (pogođena atmosfera u samu srž), tako da bi moglo bit nešto od ovoga.

There's been talk about a live action adaptation of the Garth Ennis graphic novel known as Preacher with several big name directors attached to the project at one time or another. Each left for a variety of reasons but now one guy in particular seems to really be interested in taking the Heaven hunting gang for a spin.

In an interview with MTV A-Team director Joe Carnahan dropped the following on fans --

"I'm kind of desperate to do another comic book adaptation," he tells the network. "And the other thing I'm really keen on or interested in is 'Preacher' because I'm a big Garth Ennis fan and I love that series and that's out there, and that might be something ... I really love that."

Pročitah prvih 40-ak stranica i jako sam zadovoljan. Nevjerojatno zarazno. Imam u pdf formatu. Najviše me zanima priča oko Genesisa i onaj villain kauboj. Mislim da se zove Saint oF killers



Pa me zanimaju ovi zasebni stripovi. Ima neki redoslijed? Znam da prvih 7 treba pročitat pa onda neki od tih zasebnih stripova.

I pitanje za Hellblazer. Vidim da ima oko 300 issuea. Jel se treba po redu čitati? Još sam si skinuo Crossed od Gartha.
